1. Who organizes the Niger Delta Scholars Olympiad?
ANSWER
The Niger Delta Scholars Olympiad is organized by the Niger Delta Learning and Development Foundation (NDLDF), a duly registered non-governmental organization (NGO) committed to promoting academic excellence among students across the Niger Delta region. The foundation is made up of dedicated and well-meaning Nigerians who are passionate about educational development.
2. How reliable is this competition?

Our track record speaks for itself. We are committed to transparency, fairness, and excellence. Every promise made to participants is honored, and deserving winners are duly recognized and rewarded.
3. Can non-students register for the competition?
ANSWER
No. Only duly enrolled students in recognized schools within the Niger Delta States are eligible to participate.
4. Can a non-indigene living in a Niger Delta State participate?
ANSWER
Yes. Indigeneship is not a requirement. Any student legally residing and schooling in a Niger Delta State is eligible to register.
5. What categories of students can participate?
ANSWER
The competition is divided into the following categories:
- Lower Primary (Primary 1–3)
- Upper Primary (Primary 4–6)
- Junior Secondary (JSS 1–3)
- Senior Secondary (SSS 1–3)
6. Is the competition free?
ANSWER
No. A registration fee of ₦5,000 is required for each participant. This helps to ensure commitment from participants and supports the successful organization of the competition.
7. Why is a registration fee charged despite having sponsors?
ANSWER
Experience has shown that many people do not take free competitions seriously. The registration fee encourages commitment while also assisting with the cost of organizing the event, especially when sponsorship funds are delayed.
8. How are the registration fees utilized?
ANSWER
The registration fees are used to support the organization of the competition, including logistics, examination materials, administration, prizes, and award ceremonies. These funds also help bridge funding gaps when sponsorship is delayed.
9. Is the competition held in all Niger Delta States at the same time?
ANSWER
No. The competition is conducted on a state-by-state basis. In some instances, two states may be scheduled to participate simultaneously.
10. Is the examination computer-based or paper-based?
ANSWER
We use both computer-based testing (CBT) and paper-based examinations, depending on the facilities available in each location. Regardless of the format, all candidates write the same examination.
11. Which subjects are examined?
ANSWER
The examination covers only English Language and Mathematics. All questions are objective, and there are no essay or theory questions.
12. How many questions are there, and what is the duration?
ANSWER
The examination consists of 50 objective questions—25 questions in English Language and 25 questions in Mathematics. The total duration is one hour (60 minutes).
13. Where are the examination centres located?
ANSWER
Examination centres vary depending on the host state. Centres are carefully selected to ensure they are convenient and accessible to participating schools.
14. How soon are results and awards announced?
ANSWER
Results are usually published within one week after the examination. Award ceremonies commence shortly after the release of results.
15. Do you have physical offices?
ANSWER
Yes. We have offices in four Niger Delta States. Please visit our Contact Page for office locations and contact details.
16. Is registration online or offline?
ANSWER
We offer both online and offline registration. However, all participants must be registered in our central database. Offline registrations received through schools are subsequently uploaded to our registration portal or submitted via email or WhatsApp for processing.
17. Can payment be made in cash?
ANSWER
No. All payments must be made through bank transfer or via the online payment platform available on our website.
18. Is there a dress code for the examination?
ANSWER
Yes. All participants are required to wear their official school uniform during the examination.
19. What happens if a student arrives in casual clothing (mufti)?
ANSWER
Students who fail to wear their official school uniform will not be permitted to write the examination, and the registration fee will not be refunded.
20. Who is responsible for transporting students to the examination venue?
ANSWER
Transportation to and from the examination venue is the responsibility of parents or participating schools. Schools are advised to make safe and reliable transport arrangements for their students.
21. What happens if a registered student does not attend the examination?
ANSWER
Participants are expected to make their decision to register carefully. Registration fees are non-refundable if a student fails to attend the examination.
22. Can a student register after the registration deadline?
ANSWER
No. Late registrations are not accepted. All participants must complete their registration before the official deadline.
23. Can a student change the examination centre after registration?
ANSWER
Changes to examination centres may only be approved under exceptional circumstances and are subject to the organizers’ discretion.
24. What should students bring to the examination?
ANSWER
Students should bring their examination slip, school identity card (where available), writing materials, and any other items specified by the organizers.
25. What time should participants arrive at the examination venue?
ANSWER
Participants are advised to arrive at least one hour before the scheduled commencement of the examination for accreditation.
26. Will certificates be issued?
ANSWER
Yes. Participants and outstanding performers may receive certificates of participation, excellence, or achievement as determined by the organizers.
27. How will participants be informed about their results?
ANSWER
Results will be published on our official website and may also be communicated to participating schools through their designated representatives.
28. Are students with special needs allowed to participate?
ANSWER
Yes. We encourage inclusive participation. Schools or parents should inform the organizers of any special requirements during registration to enable appropriate support to be provided.
29. Can schools register multiple students?
ANSWER
Yes. There is no limit to the number of eligible students a school may register, provided each student meets the registration requirements.
