4. Registration and Confirmation
Registration may be completed through the official registration portal or another registration method expressly authorized by NDSO.
A registration may require:
Submission of the prescribed registration form.
Provision of accurate student and school information.
Payment of the applicable registration fee.
Confirmation or verification by NDSO, where required.
A payment receipt alone does not guarantee registration if the registration information is incomplete, inaccurate, or ineligible.
Participants or schools should retain their payment receipts and registration confirmations for reference.
Where a registration or payment problem occurs, please contact admin@ndsolymiad.com for assistance.
5. Accuracy of Information
Parents, guardians, schools, and participants are responsible for ensuring that submitted information is accurate, complete, and current.
Providing false information, impersonating another candidate, or submitting unauthorized registration details may result in registration cancellation, disqualification, withdrawal of improperly obtained awards, or restrictions on future participation.
Any decision affecting a participant will be handled in accordance with the applicable competition rules and relevant law.
6. Registration Fees and Charges
Applicable registration fees will be communicated before payment.
Depending on the particular competition, fees may cover:
Registration and competition administration.
Examination arrangements.
Learning or examination materials, where applicable.
Certificates and related services, where applicable.
Other services expressly identified during registration.
Any additional charges, including applicable taxes or payment-processing fees, will be disclosed where required before payment.
Participants should review the registration information carefully before completing a transaction.
NDSO will not represent a service as free where a payment is required to access that service.
7. Payment Terms
Payments must be made through the payment methods authorized by NDSO and displayed on the official website or communicated through verified official channels.
Registration is subject to successful payment confirmation and satisfaction of the applicable eligibility requirements.
Participants should not submit card PINs, banking passwords, one-time passwords (OTPs), or other confidential banking credentials to NDSO representatives.
If a payment is deducted but registration is not confirmed, please contact admin@ndsolymiad.com and provide the transaction reference and relevant registration details. Do not send your full card details or banking password.
NDSO will investigate payment discrepancies and assist with appropriate corrections or refunds where applicable.
8. Refund Policy
NDSO maintains a separate Refund Policy, which forms part of these Terms and Conditions. The policy explains the circumstances in which refunds may be requested, the applicable conditions, and the expected processing period.
Participants should review the Refund Policy before making payment.
Nothing in these Terms is intended to remove consumer rights or other protections that cannot lawfully be excluded under applicable Nigerian law.
9. Changes to Competition Arrangements
NDSO will make reasonable efforts to conduct each competition according to the published schedule, venue, format, and other announced arrangements.
Where necessary, NDSO may change an examination date, venue, format, schedule, or administrative arrangement because of circumstances such as public safety concerns, government directives, technical failures, or other events beyond its reasonable control.
Where a material change occurs, NDSO will make reasonable efforts to notify affected participants or schools through available official communication channels.
Any refund or alternative arrangement arising from a postponement, cancellation, or material change will be handled under the published Refund Policy and applicable law.
10. Competition Rules and Conduct
Participants must:
Follow examination instructions and competition rules.
Observe registration and examination deadlines.
Behave respectfully toward other participants, teachers, invigilators, and organizers.
Maintain academic honesty and integrity.
Avoid conduct that disrupts the competition.
Comply with reasonable safety and examination procedures.
NDSO may take appropriate action against misconduct, including a warning, removal from an examination, disqualification, or withdrawal of an award where justified.
11. Academic Integrity
The following activities are prohibited:
Cheating or examination malpractice.
Impersonation or falsification of identity.
Plagiarism or unauthorized assistance.
Unauthorized collaboration during an examination.
Use of prohibited electronic devices or materials.
Unauthorized recording, copying, or distribution of confidential examination content.
Tampering with results, registration records, or competition systems.
NDSO may investigate credible reports of misconduct and consider relevant evidence before making a decision under the applicable competition rules.
12. Results, Certificates, and Awards
Results, certificates, prizes, medals, scholarships, and other awards are subject to the eligibility criteria and official rules announced for the relevant competition.
NDSO may verify participant identities, eligibility, scores, and other relevant information before confirming an award.
NDSO may correct genuine administrative or scoring errors and withdraw awards obtained through fraud, impersonation, or serious rule violations.
Any prize amounts, scholarship opportunities, or other awards will be governed by the conditions published for the relevant competition. An award should not be considered guaranteed until the participant has satisfied all applicable requirements and the award has been officially confirmed.
Where an official review or appeal process is provided, participants may follow that process within the stated period.
13. Intellectual Property
Unless otherwise stated, materials created or supplied by NDSO or NDLDF for the competition—including examination questions, logos, graphics, publications, website content, and educational resources—are owned by or used under authorization by the relevant rights holder.
These materials may not be reproduced, modified, sold, published, distributed, or commercially exploited without prior written permission, except where permitted by law.
Participants may use publicly available information from the website for personal, educational, and non-commercial purposes, provided that applicable copyright and attribution requirements are respected.
Nothing in this section transfers ownership of a participant’s independently created work to NDSO.
14. Media, Photography, and Publicity
NDSO may document competitions, educational activities, and award ceremonies for reporting, archival, and promotional purposes.
Where photographs, videos, student names, or other identifiable information are to be used, NDSO will obtain consent or another lawful basis as required by applicable law, including any additional authorization required for children.
Where appropriate, parents or guardians may be asked to provide separate media consent. Refusing optional promotional consent will not, by itself, affect a student’s eligibility to participate.
Participants or guardians may contact admin@ndsolymiad.com to raise concerns about the use of identifiable media, subject to applicable legal requirements and legitimate recordkeeping obligations.
15. Privacy and Personal Information
NDLDF is committed to handling personal information responsibly and transparently.
Information collected may include student names, school details, academic categories, contact details, registration records, payment references, and information needed to administer the competition.
Personal information will be processed for legitimate purposes, including registration, eligibility verification, examination administration, communication, certificates, awards, payment reconciliation, security, and compliance with legal obligations.
NDSO will not sell participants’ personal information to third parties.
Information may be shared with authorized service providers, payment processors, schools, or relevant authorities where reasonably necessary for the stated purposes or where required or permitted by law.
Personal information will be retained only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes for which it was collected, subject to applicable legal, administrative, and recordkeeping requirements.
For additional details about personal information, cookies, website analytics, advertising technologies, and users’ privacy rights, please read our Privacy Policy on the official website.
16. Website Use and Third-Party Services
The NDSO website may contain links to third-party websites or use third-party services for payments, analytics, communication, hosting, or other legitimate functions.
These services may operate under their own terms and privacy policies. NDSO does not control all third-party websites and is not responsible for their independent content, policies, or availability.
Users should review the applicable terms and privacy notices before using an external service or submitting personal information to it.
Users must not attempt to compromise website security, disrupt services, upload malicious code, or use the website for unlawful activities.
17. Website Content and Advertising
NDSO aims to provide accurate, useful, and relevant educational and competition information through its website.
We make reasonable efforts to correct material errors, but information may occasionally require updating. Competition fees, dates, eligibility requirements, prizes, and other important details should be checked against the latest official announcement.
The website may display advertisements provided by third-party advertising services, including Google AdSense, if enabled.
Advertisements may be selected or personalized by advertising providers in accordance with their systems and applicable privacy choices. The appearance of an advertisement does not constitute an endorsement or guarantee by NDSO of the advertised product, service, or advertiser.
Advertising does not determine competition results, eligibility, awards, or official registration decisions.
Users should review our Privacy Policy for information about advertising cookies, consent requirements, and available privacy controls.
18. Communications
NDSO may communicate with participants, parents, guardians, and schools about registration, payment confirmation, examination arrangements, results, certificates, awards, and relevant competition updates.
Communication may take place through email, telephone, SMS, WhatsApp, or official website announcements.
Optional promotional communications will be handled in accordance with applicable law and any required consent. Essential communications concerning an existing registration or competition may still be sent where necessary.
Users should rely on official NDSO contact details when verifying announcements, payment instructions, or requests for information.
19. Limitation of Liability
NDSO and NDLDF will exercise reasonable care in administering their services. However, the website or associated digital services may occasionally be affected by maintenance, internet disruptions, technical failures, or circumstances beyond reasonable control.
To the extent permitted by applicable law, NDSO and NDLDF will not be liable for indirect or consequential losses arising from events beyond their reasonable control or from a user’s misuse of the website.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability where such exclusion or limitation is prohibited by law, including any applicable non-excludable consumer rights or liability for fraud, wilful misconduct, or other liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.
20. Indemnification
To the extent permitted by applicable law, a person who engages in unlawful conduct, fraud, or a material breach of these Terms may be responsible for losses directly arising from that conduct.
Nothing in this section makes a child or parent automatically liable for every loss associated with participation, nor does it remove any legal protections that apply to minors or consumers.
21. Force Majeure
NDSO will not be considered in breach of these Terms to the extent that its performance is prevented or materially delayed by circumstances beyond its reasonable control, including natural disasters, flooding, fire, epidemics, government restrictions, civil unrest, security emergencies, widespread power failures, or major internet and telecommunications outages.
NDSO will make reasonable efforts to communicate material disruptions and identify appropriate alternative arrangements, refunds, or credits in accordance with the Refund Policy and applicable law.
22. Amendments to These Terms
NDSO may update these Terms to reflect changes in competition arrangements, website functionality, operational requirements, or applicable law.
The revised version will be published on the official website with an updated effective date or last-updated date.
Where a change materially affects existing registrations or payment arrangements, NDSO will take reasonable steps to communicate the change to affected users. Changes will not retrospectively remove rights that have already accrued or rights that cannot lawfully be waived.
23. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
Where a dispute arises, the parties are encouraged to contact NDSO first to seek a fair and practical resolution.
If the dispute cannot be resolved informally, it may be referred to a competent court or other appropriate dispute-resolution body in Nigeria, in accordance with applicable law.
Nothing in this section prevents a consumer from exercising a statutory right to approach a competent authority or court.
24. Severability
If any provision of these Terms is found to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue in effect to the extent permitted by law.
25. Entire Agreement
These Terms, together with the applicable competition rules, published registration details, Privacy Policy, and Refund Policy, form the agreement governing the relevant NDSO services.
If a specific competition rule conflicts with these general Terms, the specific rule will apply to that competition to the extent of the conflict, provided that it is lawful and has been appropriately communicated.

NIGER DELTA SCHOLARS OLYMPIAD (NDSO)
REFUND POLICY
1. Introduction
The Niger Delta Scholars Olympiad (NDSO), organized by the Niger Delta Learning and Development Foundation (NDLDF), is committed to transparent registration and payment practices.
This Refund Policy explains when a registration fee may be refunded, how to submit a refund request, and how approved refunds will be processed.
Please read this policy carefully before completing a payment. This policy applies to NDSO registration fees and other competition-related payments unless different terms are clearly disclosed for a particular service.
Nothing in this policy is intended to restrict any refund or consumer right that cannot lawfully be excluded under Nigerian law.
2. Seven-Day Refund Request Period
A participant, parent, guardian, or authorized school representative may request a refund within seven (7) calendar days from the date the relevant payment was made, subject to the eligibility conditions below.
To qualify under this general seven-day policy:
The refund request must be received within seven calendar days of payment.
The competition or examination must not have commenced for the relevant participant.
Any digital materials or paid resources associated with the registration must not have been accessed or downloaded where access affects refund eligibility.
The participant must not have completed a stage of the competition for which the payment was made.
The request must contain sufficient information to verify the transaction.
Submitting a request within seven days does not automatically guarantee a refund. The request will be assessed against the conditions in this policy and any applicable legal requirements.
3. How to Request a Refund
To request a refund, send an email to admin@ndsolymiad.com with the subject line:
NDSO REFUND REQUEST
Please include:
Participant’s full name.
School name, where applicable.
Registration reference or identification number, if available.
Date and amount of payment.
Payment transaction reference.
Reason for the refund request.
Contact details for follow-up.
Please do not email card PINs, passwords, OTPs, or full payment-card details.
NDSO may request reasonable additional information to verify the payment and prevent fraudulent refund claims.
4. Circumstances in Which Refunds May Be Approved
Subject to verification and applicable law, a refund may be approved in the following circumstances:
An eligible request is submitted within the seven-day period and satisfies the conditions in this policy.
The same registration payment was accidentally made more than once.
A payment was successfully deducted but the registration could not be completed because of a verified payment or registration-system error.
NDSO cancels the relevant competition before it begins and a refund is due under the applicable cancellation arrangements.
NDSO determines that a refund is appropriate because of a verified administrative error or other exceptional circumstance.
A refund is otherwise required by applicable law.
Where a duplicate payment is confirmed, the excess payment will be reviewed for refund independently of the general seven-day policy, subject to verification and applicable law.
5. Circumstances in Which Refunds May Not Be Available
Except where required by law or otherwise approved under this policy, a refund may be declined when:
The seven-day refund request period has expired.
The relevant examination or competition has commenced.
The participant has completed a stage of the competition for which the fee was paid.
Paid digital materials or resources have already been accessed or downloaded, where this makes the payment non-refundable under the disclosed terms and applicable law.
The participant has already received a service for which the payment was made and no refund entitlement otherwise applies.
The participant is disqualified for a substantiated violation of competition rules.
The refund request concerns a voluntary change of mind after the applicable refund period.
Incorrect information supplied by the registering party has made the registration invalid, and no refund entitlement otherwise applies.
A refund will not be refused solely because a participant or parent raises a genuine complaint, exercises a legal right, or reports an administrative error.
6. Cancellation, Postponement, or Material Changes by NDSO
NDSO may need to postpone, reschedule, relocate, modify, or cancel a competition because of security concerns, government directives, emergencies, technical failures, or other circumstances beyond its reasonable control.
Where NDSO cancels a competition before it begins, affected participants will be informed of the available arrangements. Depending on the circumstances and applicable law, these may include:
A full refund of the relevant registration fee.
An alternative examination date or venue.
A credit toward a future NDSO competition, where offered and accepted by the participant or payer.
Where a full refund is due, NDSO will not substitute a credit without the payer’s agreement.
Where a competition is postponed or materially changed, refund eligibility will depend on the circumstances, the nature of the change, the arrangements offered, the applicable competition terms, and any legal rights available to the participant.
7. Refund Processing Time
NDSO aims to process approved refunds within seven (7) business days after approval.
This period refers to NDSO’s processing of an approved refund. The time required for the funds to appear in the recipient’s account may vary according to the payment provider, bank, or financial institution.
If an unavoidable delay occurs, NDSO will make reasonable efforts to inform the payer.
8. Method of Refund
Where possible, refunds will be returned through the original payment method used for the transaction.
If the original payment method is unavailable or the payment provider cannot process the refund through that method, NDSO may request verified alternative payment details or arrange another lawful refund method.
Alternative payment arrangements will be subject to reasonable verification and fraud-prevention checks.
9. Failed, Pending, or Unconfirmed Payments
If money has been deducted from your account but the registration portal does not show a successful registration, please contact admin@ndsolymiad.com before making another payment.
Include the transaction reference, payment date, amount, and registration details so that the payment can be investigated.
A pending transaction is not necessarily a completed payment. Where a transaction is reversed automatically by the payment provider or bank, the payer should check the account statement and contact the relevant provider if the reversal is delayed.
NDSO will investigate verified payment discrepancies and assist with the appropriate correction or refund where applicable.
10. Refunds for Ineligible or Duplicate Registrations
If a registration is rejected because the participant does not meet the published eligibility requirements, the applicable refund outcome will depend on the reason for rejection, the stage of the registration, the services already provided, and the applicable refund conditions and law.
Duplicate payments for the same registration will be investigated. Where an accidental duplicate is confirmed, the excess payment will be considered for refund.
Refund requests involving inaccurate information, suspected fraud, or disputed transactions may require additional verification before a decision is made.
11. Refund Approval and Notification
NDSO will review each request and may contact the applicant for clarification or supporting evidence.
The applicant will be notified of the outcome through the contact information provided.
If a request is declined, the applicant may contact NDSO for clarification or ask for the decision to be reviewed by providing additional relevant information.
Submitting a refund request does not automatically cancel a registration unless NDSO confirms cancellation or cancellation is otherwise required by law.
12. Changes to This Refund Policy
NDSO may update this policy to reflect changes in its registration procedures, payment systems, competition arrangements, or applicable law.
The latest version will be published on the official website with an updated effective date or last-updated date.
Any change will be applied consistently with applicable law and will not retrospectively remove refund rights that have already accrued.
