To ensure fairness and age-appropriate assessment, the Olympiad is divided into four competition categories.

 

Primary 1–3

 

Designed for pupils in the lower primary classes, this category focuses on developing confidence, curiosity, literacy, numeracy, and logical thinking. Questions are structured according to the Nigerian Basic Education Curriculum and are suitable for young learners.

Primary 4–6

 

This category prepares pupils for the academic demands of secondary education by assessing comprehension, vocabulary, mathematical reasoning, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.

Junior Secondary School (JSS 1–3)

 

Students in Junior Secondary School compete within this category. The examination is designed to measure academic understanding, analytical reasoning, speed, accuracy, and intellectual ability.

– JSS Three

– Senior Secondary School (SSS 1–3)

 

This category is intended for senior secondary students preparing for higher education and national examinations. Questions are more advanced and challenge participants to demonstrate higher-order thinking and academic excellence.
